“When you think things are bad,
when you feel sour and blue,
when you start to get mad…
you should do what I do!” (page 4)
Consider the Quote: This is the quote that basically introduces all of the things we are lucky to NOT be as a way to see how lucky we are. But instead of seeing what you are not, consider what you are. In other words, what do you like about your job?
Kind Action: For five consecutive work days, focus on a very specific thing that you like about your job, each day a different thing. Pay attention to that thing each day and express your gratitude for it in a tangible way. If you like working with a specific co-worker, be sure to tell this person what it is you like about them. If it is your paycheck, take time to appreciate the fact that you are capable of earning money.
Journal: Reflect back on the day you accepted your job. Do you remember being excited by the offer? Assuming so, what fueled this excitement? Take time to write about this excitement, perhaps by telling the story of you being hired by writing it in the present tense.
