Kindness Blessings – Reflection #5

“Everyone will have moments when their true identity is offered to them, their integrity and with it their life direction. Quite often it is when they are looking for something else. Anyone who has ever believed in them, strengthened their wholeness, and offered them their love will be there with them then, no matter how long ago it was or how far away.”

In the chapter “The Link,” Rachel shares the story of young King Arthur, highlighting how our experiences can align to reveal a collective purpose. This perspective allows us to accept seemingly unimportant present moments as having hidden purpose, making us more accepting of encounters and experiences.

This theme runs throughout the book and aligns with the intention of practicing mindfulness. Sometimes, we get so caught up in the hustle and focus on the destination that we miss the meaningful steps in between.

I worked on this concept during a year-long sabbatical in France, learning to appreciate each moment of the day. As I embraced this practice, I noticed more moment-to-moment opportunities. It made me feel that each moment was perfectly structured, leading to a sense of being in the right place at the right time. This feeling was often reinforced, like when I effortlessly caught public transportation.

The idea that each moment is individually tailored and structured for everyone resonates for me. It’s not about egotism but recognizing that each person’s experiences are uniquely designed. Moments like riding a bus become significant when you appreciate the individuality of each experience. The small kindness of the bus driver, although likely insignificant to him, remains memorable to me years later.

It’s a cherished entry in my blessing journal.
