On Laughter and Silence
“The soul loves silence because it is shy, and silence helps it feel safe.”
Consider attending a local Quaker meeting to experience the source of Parker’s themes and practices.
A past class participant did this and shared: “I sat in silence with 100 people. My body relaxed, aches disappeared. It felt like a peaceful meditation, amplified by the shared silence. The feeling of peace and calm stayed with me for days. I think I will go back.”
This mirrors Parker’s description of the benefits of communal silence.
The participant also noted: “Committing to communal silence was a kind action for myself and others. The resulting peace benefits everyone around me.”
This reflects Parker’s “co-creation” concept and Kind Living’s belief that kindness flows naturally from inner alignment. When inner and outer lives align, kindness becomes effortless.
The participant’s concluding statement, “The feelings I came away with will benefit all within my presence,” encapsulates this idea.
