Mission #4 – World Interfaith Harmony Week

BEFRIEND THE OTHER

Agents, critical to achieving peace on earth is developing respect for people who see and believe in things differently than you. So today’s mission asks you to learn about and engage in the traditions of others. Listen to the music, learn about the art, study a dance, and taste the foods from other cultures. Learn how people different from you experience birth, coming of age, marriage, and death.

Work together, people
of different cultures, races, religions, and political ideologies.
for the human experiment to thrive.

Simple and profound,
befriend and learn from people who are different from you.
Enter with an open mind.

When I enlarge my way of thinking,
when I stretch beyond my comfort zone,
I evolve as a human being.

Simple and profound,
befriend and learn from people who are different from you.
Enter with an open mind.

Befriend the other:
on your block,
where you work,
in your community,
all over the planet.

Take this action, befriend the other,
sharing hopes and dreams for the world,
learning new and different ways.

Simple and profound,
befriend and learn from people who are different from you.
Enter with an open mind.

To help spread the goodwill generated by completing this mission, please report your activity on the Compassion Map. Doing so will help solidify in your mind what you’ve done while creating a legacy of our collective activity that will be there to inspire others.

These missions are adapted from David Gershon’s Seven Actions to Create Peace on Earth.
